Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)

The Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA) is a federal law mandated by the Bureau of Justice that prohibits and seeks to eliminate sexual abuse in confinement settings.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has a zero tolerance policy for any sexual behavior, harassment or misconduct by a detainee or staff member.

Call the PREA Hotline: 859-547-5045 to report sexual abuse, harassment or misconduct.

You do not have to give your name, however it is critical that you provide as much information as possible so the incident can be investigated.
